Vegan

What is a vegan? Definition:

veganism is a nutritional form that completely dispenses with all products of animal origin. These include primarily fish, any kind of meat (beef, chicken, poultry, pork ...) and also seafood. Lean against it vegan also food from still living animals, or their raw products. These include e.g. Milk, cheese, cottage cheese, honey and eggs.
Veganism originated as a special form of vegetarianism (vegetable = vegetable). Unlike vegans, most vegetarians do not dispense with the products of live animals (eggs, milk, honey).
In Germany, less than 1% of the total population estimates a vegan attitude towards life. Nonetheless, the supply of vegan foods has grown rapidly in recent years. For animal foods, alternatives have recently been found that are not only familiar to vegans: soy, tofu, agar, almond milk, analog cheese and gelatin-free sweets.

Reasons for veganism

Vegans usually explain their lifestyle ethical Arguments. The consumption of meat and fish inevitably goes hand in hand with the killing of the animal. This responsibility vegans (and vegetarians) do not want to take. But with the abandonment of all animal products, veganism goes far beyond vegetarianism. In the breeding of cows and hens for the purpose of milk or eggs, the animals in almost all farms in Factory farming held. The animals grow up in small cages, often live with dozens of animals on a few square meters, get permanently high-dose antibiotics and are slaughtered immediately when production is reduced. A quota of animals that can not reach the slaughter age due to stress, illness or cannibalism is already calculated in advance.
Also under цkonomischen and цkologischen Aspects can be found convincing arguments. Factory farming demonstrably damages the global climate, because livestock farming produces even more harmful carbon dioxide than worldwide car traffic. In addition, there is an enormous consumption of water and fodder: For one kilogram of meat, more than 10 times the amount of grain feed is necessary, with which, theoretically, world hunger could be combated. The same goes for water: The production of one kilogram of beef consumes more than 10,000 liters of water.
